Beautiful Disasters is a monthly storytelling open mic and potluck, every first Thursday at The LAVA Center. All stories are meant to be true, personal stories from your own life.
June’s theme: Weather Disasters
Remember in elementary school when you were walking home with your siblings and it was raining so hard that suddenly a rush of water sucked your sister’s rain boot down into the storm drain and she nearly went with it? How about that time you bought an old beater of a car with no windshield wipers, and had to drive it home through blinding rain with your head stuck out the window and it took you two weeks to dry the thing out? Surely weather has complicated travel plans, closed down a beloved music festival, or taken away your Uncle Tyrone and Aunt Bertha’s prize heifer in a freak tornado. Maybe your own personal weather system has its own black cloud, or you weathered some internal storm and came out on the other side with new insight. Maybe you’ve seen a quadruple rainbow, or a cloud in the shape of your fifth grade math teacher. Come share these and the other beautiful disastrous weather tales with your community.
Doors open and food is served at 6 p.m. Show will start at 7 p.m. Show is pay-what-you-want.
