The LAVA Center is excited to announce a screening of Food, Inc. 2, Friday, Aug. 16, 6 p.m. at The LAVA Center, 324 Main St, Greenfield.
From co-producer Michael Pollan’s website: “In Food, Inc. 2, the sequel to the 2008 Oscar®-nominated and Emmy®-award winning documentary, Food, Inc., filmmakers Robert Kenner and Melissa Robledo reunite with investigative authors Michael Pollan and Eric Schlosser to take a fresh look at our efficient yet vulnerable food system. The revolution continues with Food, Inc. 2.”
Food, Inc. 2 is not a film of despair. Rotten Tomatoes calls it “a timely and urgent follow-up to the Oscar®-nominated documentary.… Seeking solutions, the film introduces innovative farmers, food producers, workers’ rights activists, and prominent legislators such as U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Jon Tester, who are… fighting to create a more sustainable future.”
“The film is particularly timely as we see a complete impasse in Congress with regard to passing a new Farm Bill,” notes Jan Maher, a LAVA co-coordinator. “We are excited to bring it to The LAVA Center where audiences can watch in community and have an opportunity to discuss the issues.” Maher will lead a post-screening talkback focusing on how we can take action to support healthy, sustainable food locally and nationally.
There is no admission charge, though donations are always welcome.
Part of LAVA’s programming to accompany the extension of indiVISIBLE, the gallery exhibit documenting and celebrating Western Mass Agricultural Workers.
