Join author Patricia Williams and illustrator Tom Swetland for the launch of their new children’s book, “Fur & Feathers Together: A Tale of the Highland Woods.” Williams will read, Swetland will display original illustrations, and the book will be available for sale and signing. Light refreshments will be served.

about the book:
The story is about courageous woodland creatures that unite and fight to stop the pollution of their water supply. They are aided by uppity pet dogs, a loud mouthed macaw, and a very flirty red hen.

This book was inspired by many years of walking dogs in the beauty of the Highland Woods of Greenfield.

The book will be at Greenfield book stores — The Imaginary Bookshop, Federal Street Books and World Eye Bookshop — and at the new Greenfield Public Library.

about the author and illustrator:
Patricia Williams is a community herbalist and a retired union representative. Throughout her career she has represented Boston hotel workers, municipal workers in central Massachusetts, statewide registered nurses with the Massachusetts Nurses Association and academic professionals at the University of Connecticut. A lifelong advocate of social and economic justice, she is spending her retirement supporting local progressive institutions, candidates and struggles. She also indulges in a bit of writing.

Tom Swetland is a retired bookstore owner. He owned and operated Federal Street Books for 14 years, making precious little profit but gaining great community appreciation for providing affordable books to the public. His talent as an artist emerged 20 years ago. Also a lifelong social and economic justice advocate, he uses his art to highlight a wide range of issues. He currently has an annual showing of his work at The LAVA Center in Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Patricia and Tom have lived happily together in Western Massachusetts since 2002.
