Join us for a reception for Taking Flight: paintings by Annie Quest and photography by Lindy Whiton, on display at The LAVA Center in April.

This show comes together just as long time friends Annie Quest and Lindy Whiton claim shifts in their lives, both of them placing their art front and center. After over 58 years of supporting each other’s creativity they have put Annie’s paintings and Lindy’s photos of big birds into one show.

Lindy Whiton has lived in Greenfield, MA all of her adult life. As an artist and educator, she has been shaped by the members and vibrancy of this community. She has been taking pictures since her teens, but it was not until 2009 when her brother Paul gave her a Pentax camera that she began pursuing photography as not only an artist, but as a way to document all of the beauty of life around her during a transformative time. She began blogging about her experiences and documenting those experiences daily. Lindy captures the spirit of life around her even during the darkest of days, which is evidenced by her winsome landscapes and candid portraits. (Biography written by Sarah Lawnson.)

Annie Quest has been a theatre director, stage and lighting designer, jewelry maker, painter and musician for many decades. Having performed throughout New England, she is now concentrating her energies on painting and developing an exhibition CV. She teaches art, art history and social emotional learning at the Greenwood School in Putney, VT.
