Part II of a stage adaptation of George Gissing’s novel THE ODD WOMEN will be performed at The LAVA Center in Readers Theater format on Thursday April 13th, 2023. This 1893 work has the unusual distinction of being a feminist classic by a Victorian male author. George Gissing explores the contradictions and challenges of being a woman in a time when everything was expected of you, everything was changing, and everything had to be fought for.
P. H. Crosby has adapted the novel into a full-length drama. The first half was produced last year at The LAVA Center. This year the performance will consist of a synopsis of the first half and a stage reading of the conclusion.
