4:30 pm – LAVA Grand Opening Party with the Farley String Band (5–6), gallery exhibit, hot cider and snacks, followed by watching the parade from our stoop at 6 pm.

12:30–1:30 pm – International Family Dance with Brattleboro International Folk Dance. Learn easy, fun dances from around the world!
1:30–2 pm – Kids Story Time with author-educator Doug Selwyn

3–5 pm – Lindy Whiton Photography Exhibit Reception
Lindy Whiton’s photography exhibit, “My Franklin County,” will be on display throughout our grand opening weekend. Join us for a reception on Saturday 2/1, 3-5pm.
Lindy Whiton has lived in Greenfield Massachusetts all of her adult life. As an artist and educator, she has been shaped by the members and vibrancy of this community. She has been taking pictures since her teens, but it was not until 2009 when her brother Paul gave her a Pentax camera that she began pursuing photography as not only an artist, but as a way to document all of the beauty of life around her during a transformative time. She began blogging about her experiences and documenting those experiences daily. Lindy captures the spirit of life around her even during the darkest of days, which is evidenced by her winsome landscapes and candid portraits.

5:30–7 pm – BYO Performance Salon: bring something performative to share, such as your favorite poem, instruments, etc.
7:30 pm – Silverthorne Theater Fashion Show!
Silverthorne Theater will pull out some of the more spectacular of the costumes used in Silverthorne’s past six seasons as well as samples from its collection for a festive Fashion Show. This free event will celebrate Silverthorne’s new tenancy in the LAVA Center, the arts incubation space in downtown Greenfield at 324 Main Street. Space is limited – seating will be on a first-come basis.
Over the years, Silverthorne Theater has amassed a large collection of costumes for a wide range of shows. Some are original creations, built for specific characters. Others were bought and adapted for shows. A large number of period pieces were donated by generous Silverthorne fans. Many will be featured in the Fashion Show.
An extra added attraction will be “THESE SHOES WEREN’T MADE FOR WALKING” – a display of some of the outrageous footwear from STC’s collection – up for auction! Visitors to the LAVA Center throughout the weekend will be able to bid on a selection of utterly amazing shoes. Proceeds will benefit STC’s upcoming Theater Thursdays New Play Reading Series.
