The PeaceBirds Project Exhibit

Home » Humanities » The PeaceBirds Project Exhibit

closing reception: Thursday, August 6, 5-8pm

The PeaceBirds exhibit, in LAVA’s Humanities Gallery, runs through July 2026, including several additional gatherings of folding and story circles facilitated by JuPong Lin and Mona Shiber. Launched in November 2023, the PeaceBirds Project grew out of the shared desire of two artist friends, to transform the agony of witnessing atrocities committed in the Levant, West Asia and around the world. The project links the history of our people’s struggle for sovereignty through art-centered gatherings and traveling installations that cultivate spaces for collective grief and creative activism. Lin and Shiber began the project as an artistic and community-oriented response to the particular and devastating events ongoing in Palestine since October 7, 2023 and have continued to grow the project in solidarity with demilitarization and peace movements, the movement for Apartheid-Free Communities, and Indigenous struggles for self-determination.
