October 28, 2022 //  by LAVA

In addition to workshops and special events throughout the month, The LAVA Center will host open writing times for two hours daily in November.

Beginners, emerging writers and professionals are all welcome. Prompts will be provided for those who find them useful. According to a LAVA Center press release, there will also be occasional one-hour workshops for trying out specific writing techniques and formats, led by Jan Maher and Doug Selwyn.

Paul Richmond of Human Error Publishing and host of regular open mic sessions at The LAVA Center invites all who have created work during the first half of the month to share it at the open mic on Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.

Shop Local Saturday on Nov. 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will include a book table featuring works by Human Error Publishing and Dog Hollow Press authors, as well as used books in good condition.

Wrapping up the month is a local launch of “Dreams for a Broken World” on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. Published by Essential Dreams Press, this anthology is co-edited by novelist Ellen Meeropol, who will moderate the event. Contributors Joy Baglio, JoeAnn Hart, Tina Egnoski, Céline Keating, Jan Maher and Robert Redick will read from their work. Books will be available for sale and signing, with all proceeds benefiting the Rosenberg Fund for Children.
