Storytelling event Feb. 1
Beautiful Disasters, a monthly storytelling open mic and potluck hosted by Trouble Mandeson and Nisse Greenberg, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, at The LAVA Center, 324 Main St.
Doors open and food is served at 6 p.m. The show will start at 7 p.m.
All stories are meant to be true, personal stories that are examples of finding something beautiful amid disaster. The theme for February is love: love lost, love found, love delayed and love misguided. The show is pay-what-you-want.

LAVA Center hosting Staff Picks Art Exhibit
The LAVA Center at 324 Main St. will host its Staff Picks Art Exhibit featuring work by artists who’ve shown at the center throughout the years. Some of the work has been displayed before while some is exclusive to this exhibit.
There will be a reception on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gallery hours in February will be Mondays and Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m.
In addition to the gallery exhibit, The LAVA Center’s cafe will be open featuring a self-serve, donation-based coffee and tea station.
